The names of the victims, except one who was identified as Aileen de Asis, were not immediately available. They were brought to the Divine Grace Hospital for treatment.

The bus was traveling along the Centennial road in Barangay Tabon 3 when the driver lost control of the wheel, according to Superintendent Chitadel Gaoiran, spokesperson for the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) police.

The driver, identified only as Puroy, fled after the accident that occurred at noon.

Probers have yet to determine the cause of the accident.

‘Implement higher insurance coverage’

Meanwhile, a transport group yesterday urged President Duterte to order the implementation of an increase in the insurance coverage for accidents involving public utility vehicles.

Duterte should order the Land Transportation, Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to immediately implement the increase for the benefit of the commuters, Vigor Mendoza, chairman of the 1-United Transport Alliance Koalisyon, said.

The Insurance Commission approved the increase last year and advised the LTFRB to implement it.

From P200,000, the agency raised the death insurance to P400,000 and the injury from P20,000 to P100,000.

In a letter to the LTFRB, the Insurance Commission said the proposal was approved by all sectors including transport, commuters, insurance providers, civic organizations and other groups after the conduct of public consultations.

The letter was dated Nov. 27, 2017 and received by the LTFRB on Dec. 1.
