Kakai happy being single

- By BOT GLORIOSO

Kakai Bautista does not see herself entering a romantic relationship at this point in her life after recovering from what had been reported before as “failed” relationships. And now that her heart is doing fine, Kakai said that she is ready should fate dictate her to become loveless for the rest of her life.

The singer-comedienne has admitted to being a late bloomer having had to work early to help her family. But she didn’t have any regrets for prioritizing work over her love life.

“When you’re in your late 20s or early 30s, you dream about having a beautiful marriage but at my age now wala ng ganun. I feel happy seeing pictures of happy couples on social media even if I don’t know them, basta masaya kong tinitingnan sila,” said Kakai during the presscon for her concert titled Kakai XV: The Dental Diva 15th Anniversary Concert. “Wala na ako dun sa level na ay sana ako din, wala ng ganun. It’s not even on my list (to get married). Perhaps, it will only change if there is someone who would be very willing to be with me na as in solid.”

Asked if she doesn’t dream of having a child, Kakai again stressed that it’s not a priority “but if God will give me someone and a child in my 40s or 50s, then why not? For me, I don’t want to race against time because I know there is a perfect time for everything.” Besides, she doesn’t put a deadline for a guy to come along. She has been loveless for quite some time. “Okay lang marami naman akong crush so I’m not giving myself a deadline because I don’t want to die early. Deadlines are only for those who want to die early, hahaha.”

She recalled she had a boyfriend before who was eager to marry her yet she decided to turn her back on him for her family. “If I didn’t choose to work for my family, probably I am now busy taking care of five children. As for the guy, he is now happy with his wife and children.”

It can be recalled that Kakai hogged showbiz headlines in the past for her association with actors. She was

linked to Thai actor Mario Maurer whom she had worked with in the romantic comedy Suddenly, It’s Magic. Then, it was not too long ago when all eyes turned on her when Ahron Villena suddenly voiced out his irritation on social media after she reportedly made statements suggesting they had a romantic past. However, all is well between them now. How did they reconcile? “I just woke up one day without feeling any hatred toward him and then we had the chance to see each other, nag -‘Hi’ lang at nagyakap,

ganun lang. I would not be talking to him or giving him the chance for us to have a bonding moment

kung meron pa (galit). Wala na, it’s over and done with,” she replied.

In fact, the two are working together on a movie, Harry Patty, and she even invited the actor to watch her anniversary concert on April 6 at the Music Museum. But she denied their reconciliation is part of the movie promo.

“We’re okay before the offer to do the movie came,” she insisted. “Kahit naman may offer na P10M, kung di ko naman kayang makipagtrabaho sa kanya

at harapin s’ya, I won’t accept it. Everything just turned out fine. Siguro, si Lord ang may gusto.”

Kakai said they no longer talk about their misunderstanding. “Ako lang ‘yung

laging nanunumbat, nang-aaway. But in fairness to him, he’s been very good to me and he’s been very understanding, very patient with me.” And she doesn’t have any regret that they didn’t end up as a couple “because we had good times and we did also have happy memories together.”

As to her invitation to watch her concert, Kakai shared that she told Ahron that he is not part of the show. Her guests will be Maymay Entrata, Jona, X-Factor

UK’s JBK and some of her Rak of Aegis co-stars like Pepe Herrera, Poppert Bernadas, Jimmy Marquez, Gold Villar, Jet Barun and Paeng Sundayan.

Kakai added that the anniversary concert, directed by Frank Lloyd Mamaril, is set to become a night of great performances, hearty laughs and some reminiscing on her journey from being a newbie theater performer to a comedy actress.

“I’ve been through a lot of hardships.

Naging taga-mop ako ng floor, taga-hugas ng plato at baso sa rehearsal hall ng theater then I became a wardrobe assistant. In acting, I auditioned for a soap in ABSCBN where direk Lauren Dyogi asked me to read a script in Chinese then right after, he said, ‘Mag-taping ka na sa Lunes.’

Ako naman, hala di makapaniwala but of course, I went to the set. There was also a moment when I wanted to quit because there were people who looked down on me, ang sakit but through the encouragement of my friends, I stayed. Tiniis ko na

lang siguro dahil bago pa lang ako but now those people had changed. Pinapansin na

nila ako ngayon. I’m thankful that I’m still here and celebrating my 15th year (in the entertainment scene) and so the concert has a story, not just all laughter.”

Kakai shared that she selected all the songs in her repertoire. “I will try to sing all types of songs as there will be something for the millennial crowd, for the oldies and the not so old ones. May mga

hugot din but as much as possible, I don’t want the audience to say that the show is purely about me because I want everybody to enjoy the show.”
