Manila District V journalists bag awards in DSPC
A total of 1,098 journalists coming from 61 elementary schools in the city of Manila gathered and competed in the Division Schools Press Conference and Contests held at Epifanio delos Santos Elementary School last Mar. 3, 2018, with District V journalists bringing home the bacon.
Four Journalists from the host school garnered several awards: Marielle Anne Geronimo got 6th place in Pagwawasto at Pag-uulo ng Balita; Odchigue Jeshua Moen got 7th place in Science Writing; Chermae Borigas got 11th place in Pagsulat ng Agham and Althea Orea got 15th place in Copyreading and Headlining. The young journalists were trained by Portial Ebol, their school paper adviser.
Justo Lukban Elementary School (JLES) journalists also harvested awards. Arien Mark Pepito got 1st place in Kartuning
Editoryal; Karlo Joaquin Miguel David got 5th place in Sports Writing; Deanne Alexandra Soriano got 8th place in Editorial Writing; Kalvin Miguel Tolentino got 12th place in Pagsulat ng Lathalain; Precious Je-Anne Bumanlag got 14th place in Photo Journalism and Rey Angelo Castillo got 15th place in Pagsulat ng Balitang
Palakasan. They were trained by Novem Tenero, their school paper adviser.
Seven journalists from Rafael Palma Elementary School (RPES) brought home awards such as Andrei Hamtig, 2nd placer in Sports Writing; Johann Cruz, 2nd place in Cartooning; Seidy Blanca, 4th placer in Pagsulat ng Balita; Alyza Bona, 9th placer in Pagwawasto at Pag-uulo ng Balita; Stephanie Bactol, 9th place in Copyreading and Headlining; Tony Dulay, 10th placer in News Writing and Sharina Datumanong, 13th placer in Pagsulat ng Editoryal. They were trained by Helen Garcia, school paper adviser.
Aurora A. Quezon Elementary School (AAQES) also toasted for victory when the journalists brought home awards such as Reuben Caleb Ferrer, 2nd placer in Feature Writing; Leeian Denisse Miguel, 3rd placer in Pagsulat ng Balitang Agham; Althea Jane Dela Pena, 4th placer in Pagkuha ng Larawan; Jennifer Palma, 5th placer in Pagsulat ng
Balita and Peter Luis Ferrer, 10th placer in Editorial Writing. Their trainer was April Joy R. Intatano, school paper adviser.
Kian Gene Madrid of Margarita Roxas de Ayala Elementary School (MRAES), trained by Maria Victoria Concon, won 3rd place in Pagsulat ng Editoryal.
Meinard Julius Macusi Of Celedonio Salvador Elementary School also got 12th place in Copyreading and Headlining together with Kirsten Salgado who landed 12th in Science Writing. They were trained by Mary Joy Taban-ud, their school paper adviser. — April Joy Robles-Intatano
