37 nabbed in drug war

At least 37 people believed to be involved in the illegal drug trade were apprehende­d in separate operations in Metro Manila over the weekend.

In Parañaque City, 19 drug suspects were rounded up during a sting in Barangay La Huerta at around 6 a.m. on Saturday.

Members of the Southern Police District drug enforcemen­t unit said they confiscate­d P80,000 worth of shabu, drug parapherna­lia, P2,000 in marked money and a 12-gauge shotgun.

The suspects were Rose Joyln Lavaria Cayubit, 49; Ricardo Areglado Daban, 47; John Alexis Valdez Cayubit, 27; Renato Calixto Cayubit, 45; Jericho Lima Bonete, 38; Rogelio Argayon Sarmiento, 24; Jay Rommel Inalisan Galvez, 21; Jeffrey Flor Abrogar, 36; Winifredo dela Cruz Moscosa, 45; Francis dela Vega Sarmiento, 44; Arnold Louie Luna Manugit, 26; Michael Fabon San Pedro, 35; Sonny Boy Sibayan Adriano, 45; Joshua Balayan Francia, 22; Domingo Sirelño Cotamora, 56; Edgar Argullo Tañeza, 32; Jun Fenaso Albis, 42; Jay Undayuy Avico, 42, and Abunsopia Mapandi, 26.

In Makati, agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency and the city police arrested two suspected pushers, known only as Mercy and Boy, during a raid on a house along J.B. Roxas street in Barangay Olympia.

The raiders were armed with search warrants issued by Makati Judge Elmo Alameda.

Police said they seized around 20 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P100,000.

Twelve other drug suspects were nabbed during the raid. They were Mercy Mamaid Gudoy, Rose Ann Mamaid Lopez, Joan Jesalva Cruz, Michelle Mamaid Evangelist­a, Roma Marie Lopez Garcia, John Christian Gudoy Elu, Daniel David Gruen, Ruben Castro Jamon, Jeralda Mamait Jamon, Mark Anthony Mamait, Richard San Miguel, Jason Jamon, Joel Cabrera and Luzviminda Lopez.

In eastern Metro Manila, four persons were arrested during anti-drug operations.

Michael Perez, 34, and Jose Lizardo Jr., 26, were collared in a sting along Rosita street in Barangay Sto. Niño in Marikina.

Perez and Lizardo allegedly yielded nine sachets of shabu and P1,000 in marked money.

They were not included in the drug watchlist, city police chief Senior Superinten­dent Roger Quesada said.

In Pasig City, Richard Irag was held for alleged possession of four sachets of shabu in Barangay Rosario.

Michael Romano was accosted by patrolling policemen for unruly behavior along Ortigas Extension in Barangay Sta. Lucia.

When frisked, Romano allegedly yielded a pack of shabu.

The suspects are being held by police on charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act.
