Cop gets life for drugs
A police officer and his cohort have been sentenced to life imprisonment for illegal drugs.
Senior Police Officer 2 Adelardo Gaurano, 49, a former member of the Regional Public Safety Battalion, and cell phone technician Ram Rebueno, 35, were found guilty of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, according to a ruling penned by Laguna Regional Trial Court Branch 37 Judge Caesar Buenagua released recently, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) announced yesterday.
Gaurano and Rebueno were also ordered to pay a fine of P500,000 each.
Investigation showed the two men were arrested after selling 404 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P2.02 million to a PDEA agent at a hotel in Laguna on Feb. 16, 2016. They were also tagged as suppliers of shabu in Calamba and nearby areas.
PDEA chief Aaron Aquino lauded the prosecution panel for their efforts to establish the guilt of the accused.
2 suspects slain in N. Ecija
In Nueva Ecija, “high-value” drug pushers Jerwin Alejo, 38, and Manny Ayroso were killed in alleged shootouts with antidrug operatives in Barangay Daan Sarile, Cabanatuan and Mangino, Gapan, respectively, on Thursday.
Police said a caliber .38 revolver was recovered from Alejo and an improvised gun from Ayroso.
Twenty-one other drug suspects were arrested in Meycauayan, Guiguinto, San Miguel, Norzagaray, Bocaue and Baliwag in Bulacan in the past two days. Police said 23 sachets of shabu and a pack of dried marijuana leaves were among those recovered from the suspects.
Rey Molino, councilman of Barangay Adviento in Gattaran, Cagayan was arrested after a raid on his house yielded sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia.
Joey Ringor and his wife Ruby were nabbed in a raid on their house in Barangay Punta, Aparri, Cagayan, which was allegedly used as a drug and sex den.
Government nurse Machael Kevin Megrino, Nadiel Talicop and Bonbon Abater were caught selling shabu in a parking lot in Iligan City.
