Metro Supermarket opens within Ayala Center Cebu

-

As a testament of its resiliency, Metro Retail Stores Group Inc. (MRSGI) opened its 900 sqm Metro Supermarket in Cebu’s central business district. The rebuilding of the supermarket at the Ayala Center Cebu Mall signals the retail operator’s first phase of its rebuilding program in order to restore operations in Ayala Center.

Long considered a landmark establishment in the district, the Ayala Center Cebu branch, the third store to be opened since the company was founded 35 years ago, was affected by a fire in January this year.

“This is the first of a multiphase rebuild program that will bring to Cebu a much better and vibrant Metro Supermarket and Department Store,” said Frank Gaisano, MRSGI chairman and CEO.

“We’re thankful to our customers who have supported our Metro Ayala store for more than two decades; and so we owe it to them to rebuild, renew and remain to be the store that provides them with quality and affordable products that they deserve,” he added.

Cebu, with its growing economy and strong purchasing power, remains to be a key market for MRSGI. Its Metro Ayala Center stores in particular, have consistently been one of the top performing outlets for the company. “Our Cebuano heritage makes it all the more important for us to rebuild and continue growing here,” Arthur Emmanuel, MRSGI president and COO said.
