3 dead, 9 hurt in Sibugay road mishap

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Three persons died in a road accident in Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay on Monday.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Zamboanga peninsula police spokespers­on, identified the fatalities as Justin Perarin, 3; Aila, 3, and Jovelyn, 36, both surnamed Suico.

Nine other persons, seven of them children, were injured and brought to the Kabasalan Pathfinder Hospital for treatment.

Initial investigat­ion showed the victims were in a tricycle on their way home after attending the funeral of their relative when their driver, Fernando de Guzman, lost control of the wheel and collided with a Rural Transit Mindanao bus on the opposite lane in Sitio Suloan, Barangay Kimos.

In Nueva Vizcaya, Catholic priest Silverio Ablaza was driving a Toyota Revo when it collided with a 10-wheeler truck in Barangay Indianan, Bambang at around 4 a.m. yesterday.

Ablaza was pronounced dead on arrival in a hospital where another priest, Rene Caligue and Tesie Aliac, who were injured, were confined. 2 drug suspects slain in Batangas

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Two drug suspects were killed in alleged shootouts with police officers in Batangas on Monday night.

Gerald Yermo and Rommel Acebo, 37, allegedly resisted arrest and drew their guns after selling shabu to undercover agents in Barangay San Agustin, Ibaan and Sinala, Bauan, respective­ly.

PO1 Darwin Borsil, 34, a resident of Barangay Lourdes and assigned at the Castilla police station, was driving his motorcycle on his way to work when he was waylaid in Barangay Naspi.
