Greenies crush Dragons, set title duel vs Bullpups

Kyle Rivera shot 19 points as La Salle smothered Chiang Kai Shek College, 104-61, to seal a title showdown with National U in the 15-year-old division of the fifth HDBL Freego Kids Cup at the SGS Stadium in Quezon City last Thursday.

Aside from leading the Greenies’ attack, Rivera also helped clamp down on defense in the third period that saw the top-seeded team outscore the Blue Dragons, 35-8, to pull away at 84-37 going into the last 10 minutes.

James Ison and Kenshin Padrones backed Rivera with 15 and 14 points, respective­ly. Six other La Salle players scored seven points or more to underscore its might in the tournament backed by AXA Philippine­s.

The second-seeded Bullpups also leaned on a big third quarter run to beat Letran, 74-57.

LSGH and NU dispute the title of the event organized by Edster Sy at 2:30 p.m. today.

Meantime, La Salle Greenhills and Pulong Selection set up a title duel in the 12-U.

Running the tournament are event commission­er Boy de Vera and director Willy Chan.

Drawing 22 points from Andre Minas, the Greenies dumped St. Stephen’s HS, 100-31, while Pulong drew 41 points from Joaquin Sison to whip the Warriors, 122-68.
