Bato brod, reelectionist on narco list win kagawad posts
A brother of current Bureau of Corrections head Ronald dela Rosa and an incumbent barangay official included in the narcolist won kagawad seats in this year’s barangay elections.
Wenky dela Rosa won the first place in the barangay council of Barangay Batasan Hills.
This is his first term as a councilor. He previously served as a purok leader in their community.
Wenky said he aims to continue his brother’s antii-illegal drug campaign in the area.
Meanwhile, Noemi Agcaoili, who is on in the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s drug list, was re-elected as one of the seven members of the Barangay Bagong Lipunan ng Crame council.
Agcaoili, who has denied her involvement in illegal drugs, is on her third and final term as kagawad.
In Malabon, the allegations of being a drug coddler may have proven detrimental to the reelection bid of Alvin Mañalac, who lost as barangay chairman of Tinajeros.
The grandson of the notorious Malabon police chief Alfonso “Boyong” Mañalac, Alvin only got 2,151 votes, while the winning barangay captain Ryan Geronimo, Mañalac’s councilmate, won 3,216 votes.
PDEA filed a complaint against Mañalac with the Office of the Ombudsman following the discovery of a drug laboratory which was raided by PDEA in barangay Tinajeros last April 13.
Another alleged narcopolitician was luckier: Anthony Velasquez, who is also on the PDEA’s list of narcopoliticians, won his reelection bid as Hulong Duhat barangay chairperson with 3,074 votes.
Both Mañalac and Velasquez had refused media interviews.
