1,500 jins to compete in New Face t’wondo

-

Around 1,500 taekwondo newcomers will bid for honors when they compete in the 2018 Meralco/MVP Sports Foundation National New Face of the Year Championships on May 19-20 at the Rizal Memorial coliseum.

The participants will come from Metro Manila and provincial affiliates and chapters of the Philippine Taekwondo Association as well as the military services.

Competition will be conducted in various categories – senior men and women, junior men and women, Cadet division (men and women) and gradeschool (boys and girls).

The two-day event supports the PTA’s commitment for the development of sports, particularly the government’s grassroots program.

Aside from Meralco and MVP Sports Foundation, the competition for upcoming jins is also backed by Smart Communications Inc., Philippine Sports Commission, the Philippine Olympic Committee and PLDT.

Outstanding participants may eventually get a chance to join the list of fighters who aspire to represent the country in international events.

Filipino jins are always considered among the top contenders in prestigious world tournaments like the World and Asian Championships, Asian Games and Southeast Asian Games.

Sports enthusiasts, especially parents who would like to enroll their children in the popular martial art, are invited to watch the tournament.
