MALABON 419TH FOUNDATION DAY Toward an Empowered Community
-
For maintaining the standards of good financial housekeeping, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, business friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management, and tourism, culture and the arts, Malabon has been awarded with the Seal of Good Governance. It is the highest award given by the Department of Interior and Local Government to honor excellence in local governance. And in celebration of the city’s 419th foundation day, the community beams with hope and pride for its latest achievements and developments:
• Malabon City’s 11-storey city hall building, constructed on April 21, 2008, is continuously renovated and developed by the city government. Originally built under Mayor Tito Oreta’s leadership, it remains a major business center of the city due to its state-of-the-art facilities such as three high-speed elevators and its offices’ digital systems in place.
• In partnership with Meralco for the community’s electrification program, street lighting is continuously being done in Malabon to ensure safe walking spaces for every Malabonian.
• Angking Galing – more than 150 women from Malabon completed a livelihood-training program spearheaded by Mother Ricky Reyes, TESDA Secretary Guiling ‘Gene’ Mamondiong, and the Metro Manila Mayors’ Spouses Association.
• Malabon Public Employment Services Office organized a Mega Job Fair last November 2017 at the Robinsons Town Mall where city residents were given a chance to explore potential jobs and skills training.
