MMDA opens EDSA-Ayala tunnel after oil spill

- Robertzon Ramirez

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) opened yesterday the northbound lane of EDSA-Ayala tunnel after it was closed to motorists on Saturday due to an oil spill.

Bong Nebrija, operations officer of the MMDA, said the EDSA-Ayala tunnel was opened following a cleanup.

Nebrija said a van driven by Allan Laruan and owned by SK Techno-Lube Corp. crashed along the tunnel, causing the oil spill.

Four motorcycle riders who were tailing the van were injured after they slid, the MMDA said.

Hundreds of commuters were inconvenienced by the road closure.

Nebrija said the driver was held at the MMDA’s traffic bureau in Makati on charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property and physical injuries.
