Sexagenari­an dies in shooting

TUGUEGARAO – A 60-year-old man died while three others were wounded when a police officer fired shots during a brawl in Baggao, Cagayan on Saturday.

Pepito Agustin died while being rushed to a hospital, where his relatives Marlo, 58; Leonita, 59, and Jeffrey, 37, all surnamed Cabaro, were taken for treatment of gunshot wounds.

Senior Police Officer 1 Michael Domingo of the Santiago City Police was also rushed to the hospital for treatment of three stab wounds in the chest.

Reports said a quarrel broke out between a group of men during a picnic at resort in Barangay Asinga-Via.

Domingo reportedly fired his service firearm indiscrimi­nately, hitting the victims, according to Cagayan police director Senior Superinten­dent Warren Tolito.

Probers have yet to determine the cause of the brawl.
