Barangay councilman shot dead

TUGUEGARAO, Cagayan – A village councilman died in a gun attack by motorcycle-riding men in Bantay, Ilocos Sur on Sunday.

Wilson Leones of Barangay Banaoang was buying food in Barangay Cabaroan when he was shot at around 4 p.m.

Leones died while being treated at the Metro Vigan Cooperativ­e Hospital where vendor Edna Peralta, who was wounded, was also taken for treatment. – Raymund Catindig, Artemio Dumlao

2 brothers killed, kids hurt in ambush

TUGUEGARAO, Cagayan – Two brothers were killed while their two children were wounded in an ambush in Ilagan, Isabela yesterday.

Danny Rapisora, 40, and his brother Joel, 45, were riding a motorcycle when they were shot in Barangay Mangcuram.

One of the suspect, who was positively identified by one of the victims, was arrested in a follow-up operation.

Senior Superinten­dent Mariano Rodriguez, Isabela police director, said the gun attack could be in retaliatio­n for the killing of a certain Julius Dalit in Barangay Karrikkika­n on Saturday. – Raymund Catindig

Robbery suspect gunned down

A suspected robber was killed in an alleged shootout with a police officer in Rodriguez, Rizal yesterday.

The still unidentifi­ed suspect reportedly entered the house of Suzette Kareen Serrano in Barangay San Rafael at about 3:30 a.m. and took her cell phone.

Police Officer 1 Antonio Perez, who responded when Serrano shouted for help, said he was forced to draw his gun when the suspect shot him. – Non Alquitran, Ed Amoroso
