BancNet re-elects Tan, Consing

-

BDO president Nestor Tan and BPI president Cezar Consing have been re-elected chairman and president, respectively, of BancNet for the 2018-2019 term.

Tan and Consing highlighted the company’s transformation into an industry utility in support of the vision of the National Retail Payments System (NRPS) being pushed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

BancNet plays a major role in this system as switch operator of the automated clearing house for low-value real-time funds transfer called instaPay.

“To fulfill our mandate, our challenge is to always stay abreast of and adopt the right technologies to address the needs of our members. It is imperative that we focus more on sourcing capabilities, connectivity and product infrastructure,” they said.

During their annual meeting, Aftad Ahmed (Citibank), Edwin Bautista (UnionBank), Gil Buenaventura (RCBC), Scott Dalziel (HSBC), Joseph Estavillo (CTBC Bank), Liduvino Geron (Landbank), Jaime Laya (Philtrust), Reynaldo Maclang (PNB), John Howard Medina (PBCom), Antonio Moncupa (East West Bank), Alfonso Salcedo, (Security Bank), Richard Benedict So (Metrobank), and William Whang (China Bank) were elected as members of the board of directors.

The directors also elected Consing as vice chairman and re-elected Aristeo Zafra as executive vice president and CEO, Maclang as treasurer, Maria Fe Liza Jayme as assistant treasurer, Agnes Maranan as corporate secretary, and Elmarie Reyes as assistant corporate secretary.

As of end-March, BancNet had an extensive network of 19,800 ATMS and 245,000 payment terminals at point of sale serving over 82 million active cardholders nationwide.
