Marco Rodriguez: ‘Fave part of being a father? When they say they love me’

-

For all the rides to school that he has given us, the stressful driving lessons that he attempted to impart, and for all of the tough love that was given — Father’s Day reminds us just how much we love Dad. How do they juggle the life of a man at work, and a doting father? We talk to two dads who dish out their parenting secrets.

As the VP of sales and marketing for Rodclay Roofing Inc., Marco interacts with numerous homeowners and collaborates with many architects and designers every day. But his other passion is food — so when he isn’t in the office, he can be spotted in food markets around the city.

This is why he keeps to a classic and polished style.

“I believe that one should always dress properly for the occasion,” says Marco. “I enjoy wearing a casual shirt, walking shorts and espadrilles during summer. My eveningwear oftentimes consists of jeans, a tailored shirt and comfortable loafers.”

Marco shares that he finds his everyday wardrobe essentials from Esprit and Mexx to match his most comfortable pairs of shoes from Clarks. Growing up wearing OshKosh B’gosh, the childhood style has been passed on to his kids, which they love to wear around the house and to the out-of-town trips they enjoy taking as a family.

Marco is father to Alejandro Adrian, 5; and Alessia Martina, 2. “Having kids has totally changed my life. A few years ago, my wife Rosanna and I would go out several times a week to meet with friends. Alejandro and Alessia have become our world now.”

As a father, Marco says his style of parenting is strict. “I consider myself the disciplinarian in the family. My wife though has somehow succeeded in smoothing the rough edges and has made me learn the value of patience.”

His favorite part of being a father: “The birth of my children, each time I hold them in my arms, whenever they say they love and miss me.”
