ValuCare’s health and wellness program for Employees

- By JEFFREY B. COPIACO Manager, Information and Communications Technology

One of the most valuable assets of ValuCare is its workforce. Keeping it in pink health is therefore a non-negotiable priority, a compelling reason why ValuCare ensures that wellness activities are in place.

For radical burning of fats and calories, free Zumba sessions are held every Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30pm at the roof deck of the ValuCare Building. After work, employees change their company uniforms to Zumba get-ups and prepare themselves for an upbeat and drenching activity to the rhythmic beat of Zumba music.

A meditative and gentle alternative form of exercise is tai chi, held every Thursday from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Well-known tai chi master Antonio Delgado, himself a ValuCare member, leads the sessions. Tai Chi is often described as “meditation in motion,” but it might well be called “medication in motion,” coupled with a soothing soft Chinese music. As you move, you breathe slowly, deeply and naturally, focusing on your bodily sensation.

Spiritual nourishment is also part of the wellness program. Regardless of Christian sect (Catholic, Born-Again, Iglesia Ni Cristo, etc.), employees take time to study the word of God through Bible-sharing and short-film showing. There are also motivational discussions that help employees to be more God-fearing, applying the take-home lessons in their daily lives.

After all, ValuCare believes that keeping employees fit equates to improved productivity, a low sicknessabsence ratio, and a high office morale.
