‘e-Grad’ connects STI graduates, overseas families

-

For many Filipinos who work abroad, one of their dreams is to see their children march during graduation. However, for most of them, when that day comes along, they are unable to attend the rites physically.

Though separated by huge distances, graduates of STI College Caloocan and their loved ones abroad were able to share this proud moment through a livestream of STI’s graduation ceremonies, powered by PLDT Global Corp., SmartWorld 247 and Free Bee.

STI College Caloocan’s 2018 commencement exercises, streamed over the college’s official Facebook fanpage, was viewed more than 26,000 times. It also garnered over 1,000 reactions and was shared more than 450 times.

“Many of our overseas Filipinos work hard so their children can finish school. However, when graduation season comes around, many are unable to come home to attend these rites physically for various reasons,” said Kat Luna-Abelarde, PLDT Global Corp. president and CEO. “With the technology available today, we are able to bridge this physical gap and bring the graduation ceremonies to them, wherever in the world they may be.”

“This is our gift to overseas Filipino families, who work hard together to achieve their dreams,” Abelarde added.

Parents and family members from countries like Singapore, Macau, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, Kuwait, France, Italy, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Canada and the US took to the comments section of the livestream to express their pride and send their congratulations to the graduates.
