Bacoor hosts 1st int’l music tilt
The marching band capital of the Philippines, the City of Bacoor, has partnered with Winter Guard International (WGI) and the Asian Marching Band Confederation (AMBC) to bring the first-ever City of Bacoor International Music Championships 2018. The three-day international marching band competition event starting June 22 to 24 is a first for the country, putting the Philippines on the map as a champion of the marching band arts.
Offering all three WGI divisions of color guard, percussion ensembles and wind groups, plus AMBC’s Marching Show Band, Street Parade competitions, Drumline Battle and Brassline Battle, the competition boasts of an extraordinary lineup of local and international marching bands with back-toback competitions showcasing the best of Bacoor and the rest of the Philippines.
“The local government of Bacoor is more than proud to host the first-ever WGI Philip- pines as it promises a new level of cultural awareness and an appreciation for the arts for our young Filipinos,” said Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla. “We promise to create an unforgettable spectacle for the Philippine marching band community as we bring them closer to their contemporaries from all over the world.”
“We are more than happy and proud to be the champions of the marching band community in the Philippines,” said Cavite Rep. Strike Revilla whose vision has now been turned into reality.
The event will be held in multiple venues in Bacoor, Pasay and Manila and is part of the observance of the sixth cityhood celebration of Bacoor.
