Two precinct commanders in Caloocan City have been relieved from their posts for not wearing their uniform while on duty, an official of the Northern Police District (NPD) said.

Senior Inspectors Caesar Binucal and Rommel Ebarle, commander of police community precincts in Bagong Barrio and Sta. Quiteria, respectively were relieved by newly-installed NPD director Chief Superintendent Gregorio Lim during a surprise inspection on Tuesday night.

Ebarle’s relief came days after he assumed the post on Sunday when he replaced Senior Inspector Cecilio Tomas Jr., who was sacked following the escape of three drug suspects from the police custody.

Lim said police officers should be in uniform while on the job.

“They should serve as an example to their subordinates,” he said.

Lim said the inspections of police stations and precincts were part of directive of Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde and National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Guillermo Eleazar.

Caloocan police chief Senior Superintendent Restituto Arcangel reminded his men to wear their uniform while on duty.

6 more cops relieved

In Malabon, two police officers were relieved after they figured in a road altercation with a reporter’s son on Tuesday.

City police chief Senior Superintendent Harry Espela ordered the relief of Police Officers 1 June Gavilan and Ronald Rey Dadaeg for grave misconduct.

Valeriano Leonardo, reporter of tabloid Remate, complained that Gavilan and Dadaeg confronted his 23-year-old son Actxel Von who was on a motorcycle along MacArthur Highway in Barangay Potrero for supposedly overtaking the policemen’s vehicle.

Leonardo said the lawmen shouted his son and took photos of the latter’s motorcycle.

He said his son did not commit any traffic violation.

Gavilan and Dadaeg were disarmed and placed on floating status.

Four members of the Eastern Police District (EPD) were ordered relieved for using their cell phones while on duty and abandoning their posts.

They were Police Officers 1 Dave Vacunawa, Antonio Mendoza, Aquilino Batoy Jr. and Arnel Eluterio.

EPD director Chief Superintendent Alfred Corpus said the policemen were caught using their mobile phones while patrolling Ortigas in Pasig City on Tuesday.
