6 drug sus­pects killed in shoot­ings

Five sus­pected drug deal­ers were killed in al­leged shootouts with anti-nar­cotics agents in Ca­marines Sur, Cavite, Davao City and Bulacan while a drug sur­ren­deree was shot dead by mo­tor­cy­clerid­ing men in Ilo­cos Norte in the past two days.

Ernesto Sta. Ana and Jon­ald Llames re­port­edly shot po­lice of­fi­cers serv­ing a search war­rant in Barangay Ba­ga­cay, Ti­nam­bac, Ca­marines Sur at around 2:15 a.m. yes­ter­day. The fa­tal­i­ties were also tagged in rob­beries in the prov­ince, po­lice said.

A cer­tain Harold and Junel­son Va­len­cia al­legedly drew their guns when they sensed they had sold shabu to un­der­cover agents in Barangay Ag­naya, Plar­idel, Bulacan and Kaong, Silang, Cavite on Thurs­day, re­spec­tively.

Po­lice said Johnny Acogido, 40, shot po­lice of­fi­cers in Barangay 23-C in Davao City yes­ter­day.

In Ilo­cos Norte, Joven­cio Mora, 53, was driv­ing his mo­tor­cy­cle on his way home when he was shot in Barangay 3 Pobla­cion, Pa­suquin on Thurs­day.

Chief In­spec­tor Joseph Bal­tazar, Pa­suquin po­lice chief, said the vic­tim sur­ren­dered un­der Oplan Tokhang in 2016.

Star­let held

In Pam­panga, for­mer star­let Michelle Com­stock, who is also known as Brid­gette de Joya, and her boyfriend Mar­ciano Ca­macam, 42, alias Bong Gue­varra, were ar­rested dur­ing a raid on their house in Barangay Calu­lut, San Fer­nando also on Thurs­day.

Chief Su­per­in­ten­dent Amador Cor­pus, Cen­tral Lu­zon po­lice di­rec­tor, said eight sa­chets of shabu, drug para­pher­na­lia and two plas­tic bot­tles, which con­tained liq­uid chem­i­cals, were among those re­cov­ered from the sus­pects.

In Ba­colod City, po­lice said around 85 grams of shabu with an es­ti­mated street value of P1.02 mil­lion were re­cov­ered from the house of Myla Ve­lano, the wife of a drug de­tainee, in Barangay Man­dala­gan.

P5.1-M mar­i­juana

Mean­while, around 20,000 mar­i­juana plants and five ki­los of mar­i­juana stalks with an es­ti­mated street value of P5.1 mil­lion were de­stroyed in Kalinga this week.

In South Cota­bato, po­lice of­fi­cers up­rooted 1,712 fully grown mar­i­juana plants al­legedly planted by New Peo­ple’s Army (NPA) guer­ril­las in Barangay Dan­lag, Tama­pakan town on Thurs­day.

Barangay of­fi­cials said armed men seen near the mar­i­juana plan­ta­tion es­caped when they had sensed the ar­rival of po­lice­men.
