Abu bandit nabbed in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY – An Abu Sayyaf bandit was arrested in this city on Thursday.

Wahab Sahirin Salapuddin, alias Damdam, was collared at about 5:45 p.m in Barangay Sangali.

Chief Superinten­dent Billy Beltran, Zamboanga peninsula police director, said Salapuddin has a standing warrant of arrest for seven counts of kidnapping and serious illegal detention in connection with the kidnapping of Golden Harvest plantation workers in Lantawan, Basilan in 2001.

Salapuddin was also tagged in the siege of a church and a school in Lamitan also in 2001.

A total of 25 Abu Sayyaf bandits have been arrested since January. –
