Our Lady of Piat in Sto. Domingo Church

On July 7 at 9 a.m., the annual fiesta mass in honor of the miraculous Lady of Piat will be officiated by Rev. Fr. Fredel Agatep, rector of the Shrine of Our Lady of Piat with Rev. Fr. Stephen Simangan as concelebra­nt.

brought by the Spanish Dominican missionari­es from Macau to Cagayan Valley in 1604. Due to the numerous miracles attributed to her intercessi­on, devotion to her continues to grow and spread to other parts of the country and the world.

On June 20, 1954, the miraculous Lady of Piat was canonicall­y crowned by the Papal Nuncio to the Philippine­s, Most Rev. Egidio Vagnozzi. By virtue of the decree by Saint John Paul II in March 10, 1998, the shrine of the Lady of Piat was elevated into a Basilica Minore. The ceremonies of the conferment of the title Basilica Minore took place the following year, on June 22, in a mass presided by Cardinal Antonio Maria Javierre Ortas.

A faithful mother to all, devotion to her has grown through the years. Continuing 48 years of tradition held in the Sto. Domingo Church, the annual fiesta mass of the miraculous Lady of Piat, Patroness and Queen of the Cagayan Valley, will once again be celebrated by numerous pilgrims from near and far. All devotees are invited to attend this mass in thanksgivi­ng and celebratio­n of faith.
