‘rapid eye Movement’ at Galerie Anna

-

When sleep takes over man’s consciousness at the end of the day, a phase known as REM or Rapid Eye Movement commences. The brain remains active during REM sleep, which is associated with vivid dreams. In the realm of art, dreams become manifestations of the artist’s own reveries and fantasies, often indicative of individual passions and interests.

Galerie Anna presents “Rapid Eye Movement: Visions Behind Closed Lids,” opening on July 6, with participating artists Cristina Miranda-Alsol, Ronna Lara-Bes, Annabelle S. Cadiz, Raeche Dacanay, and Fel R. Plata.

Cristina Miranda-Alsol luxuriates in a dream of flowers and fishes. The dreaming child of Ronna Lara-Bes decides on his choice of fantasy. In a field of dreams, the Sun-Woman beams down on a child in a trance as Raeche Dacanay dances to the music of the night. Fel R. Plata moves through space in a mirage of surrealist specter. “Rapid Eye Movement” runs until July 20. Galerie Anna is at the 4/F, The Artwalk, Bldg. A, SM Megamall, EDSA cor. Julia Vargas Ave., Mandaluyong City.
