ARMM assemblyman survives ambush

DAVAO CITY – An assemblyman of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) survived an ambush that killed a helper yesterday afternoon in Barangay Cabantian here.

Sidik Amiril was in a bulletproof pickup with four others when an unidentified gunman on board a van trailing them opened fire. A helper, Verie Adas, who was on the pickup bed was killed in the attack, ABS-CBN News said. The gunman’s vehicle overtook Amiril’s after the attack.

Amiril is a member of the ARMM Legislative Assembly. He was reportedly on his way home from a mall when attacked. He reportedly has a house in Cabantian.
