7 slain in shootings

An aide of a barangay chairman was among seven persons killed in shootings in Luzon in the past two days.

Edwin Cadiz, an aide of Victor Dy, chairman of Barangay San Fermin in Cauayan and brother of Isabela Gov. Faustino Dy III, was shot by a man who emerged from a red car in front of an automotive center in Barangay Cabaruan at about 7 a.m. yesterday.

The gunman reportedly took the sling bag of the victim.

Russel Enriquez was in front of his house in Barangay Butong, Cabuyao, Laguna at around 5 p.m. when an unidentifi­ed assailant shot him at close range. He died while being treated at the St. James Hospital.

Maurice Joseph Javier and a man who has yet to be iden- tified were shot in Barangay Sta. Clara, Batangas City and San Andres, Cainta, Rizal, respective­ly.

Basingan Dallapas, 24, was delared dead on arrival at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital, where his brother Belac, 21, died while being treated. The victims were resting under a tree in front of a convenienc­e store in Barangay Centro, Tabuk when unidentifi­ed motorcycle-riding men opened fire on Sunday.

In Cavite, Roldan Maiso allegedly shot it out with police officers serving a warrant of arrest for frustrated homicide in Barangay Panapaan, Bacoor at around 1:15 a.m. yesterday.

Police said the fatality was also tagged in robberies in Cavite.
