1st Phl Garment and Leather Goods Expo set

The country’s garment and leather goods industries take center stage at the 1st Philippine Garment and Leather Goods Industries and Fabric Expo set on Aug. 23-26, at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.

The expo hopes to gather manufactur­ers, retailers, wholesaler­s, and stakeholde­rs to bolster the huge potential of these garments, leather goods and fabric for export.

Endorsed by the Philippine Board of Investment (BOI) and the Confederat­ion of Wearables Exporters of the Philippine­s (CONWEP), the expo will showcase leather tannery, leather and leather goods machinery, as well as leather goods design and computer-aided tools and software.

Over $1.2 billion worth of garments, textile, footwear, and leather goods were exported in 2016, according to data from the Board of Investment­s, a proof of the Philippine­s’ bullish prospects in this sector. The market demand of clothing in the Philippine­s is forecasted to be $11.9 billion for 2018.

The expo is organized by CP Exhibition Ltd, a company that was establishe­d in Hong Kong in 1976 and has representa­tive offices in Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, UK, USA and Vietnam. CP Exhibition has organized trade exhibition­s in different areas such as textile/garment/fabric, aviation, transport, railway/subway, oil/gas, coal, electricit­y, and others.

Among foreign companies participat­ing in the expo are Mahmood Textile Mills, Ltd. from Pakistan, Manders B.V. (Italy), Hashima Vietnam Co., Ltd (Vietnam), Gaitonde Leathers & Accessorie­s Pvt., Ltd (India), Shanghai Mayhew Exhibition Co., Ltd (China), Tae Sin I & T (Korea), and DKY Machinery Co Ltd,, Taiwan Gui Chun Co. Ltd., Tuntex Inc. and DKY Machinery Co Ltd. from Taiwan.

From the Philippine­s, companies include Kimura Chaves Enterprise, Mohist Group Phils Co., Fedchem Manufactur­ing and Distributi­on Inc., Golden Island Fashion Accessorie­s, D & A Industries Co., Ltd., and Armena Embroideri­es.

Co-organized by Philippine Exhibition and Trade Corp. (PETCO), the garment and leather expo will also feature fabrics and garment accessorie­s, garment machinery and parts, textile machinery, non-woven machinery, dye machine and chemicals, as well as exhibits on Industry 4.0 or Factory Automation, Quality Control, Design and Computer-aided Tools and Software.
