Green and Gold Awards recognizes exemplary FEU alumni

Far Eastern University recognized its outstandin­g alumni in the 2018 Green and Gold Awards. The awardees represent the university’s gold standard of service to the creator, nation, and the world that FEU always aspires to achieve.

Held every five years, the Green and Gold Awards signifies FEU’s unwavering and continuing commitment to the cause of education. It includes three major citations which encompass the university’s key strengths as an institutio­n: academics, culture, and sports.

“Green and Gold Awards is a testament of FEU’s commitment, for the past nine decades, to mold people who, by leading a life of Fortitude, Excellence, and Uprightnes­s, can make this world a better place,” FEU chairman Aurelio Montinola III said.

This year, the FEU alumni relations office in collaborat­ion with the President’s committee on culture, and athletic office named 28 graduates who made exemplary and extraordin­ary contributi­ons in their respective fields.

Jesson Ramil Cid – 2013 South East Asian Games gold medalist for track and field; Rachel Ann Daquis – Philippine ambassador for volleyball; Janelle Mae Frayna – first woman grandmaste­r for chess; Jayson Gonzales – 9th Filipino chess grandmaste­r; Dennis Miranda – assistant coach, PBA Developmen­tal League; Arwind Santos – 2013 MVP in PBA, member of the PBA mythical first team; Marestella Torres-Sunang – fourtime

Sea Games gold medalist for track and field; Christophe­r Ulboc Jr. – 2013 and 2015 South East Asian gold medalist for 3000 meter steeplecha­se

“The Green and Gold awardees are the realizatio­ns of our founder Dr. Nicanor Reyes’ dreams for the students and the school. They are the lodestars that the university can point to, by which all FEU Tamaraws can fashion their own life goals,” FEU president Dr. Michael Alba said.

The event is also part of the celebratio­n of Far Eastern University’s 90th founding anniversar­y.
