DIAMONDS ARE FOR ROYALTY? WELL, SWAROVSKI CREATES ONE FOR EVERY WOMAN
Jewelry brand Swarovski hosted its annual regional “Brillance for All” gala event last July 6 at The St. Regis Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, with some 200 guests in attendance. The Austrian brand brought together top influencers, media and special VIP guests from all over Southeast Asia to showcase their fall/winter 2018 collections.
Marked as Swarovski’s first-ever event of such scale, the jewelry brand pulled out all the stops with a specially choreographed dance performance fused with digital art on the 270° LED screen that surrounded the grand ballroom. Apart from the visually enticing performance, a runway show commenced during the dinner that allowed guests to scope the global jewelry brand’s most exciting offerings. Oh, did we mention that there was a special guest performance by Malaysian singer Yuna?
Crystal Offerings
Entertainment aside, unveiled for the first time in Asia was the Swarovski fall/winter 2018 couture collection that was exhibited at Paris Fashion Week. The collection definitely showcased the brand’s rich heritage in craftsmanship and involvement in the world of fashion.
Also on display was the “Crystal Tales” collection that had us transported in a dreamy state of mind due to the rich color palette and silhouettes. Think jewel tones and golden accents upon layers and layers of pendants, charms, bold cocktail rings and earrings. “The world of magic, enchantment and fairy tales offers an escape from the everyday life. This captivating world inspired the Crystal Tales collection. This season, I wanted to offer women a welcoming and sparkling world to retreat to, where they can be inspired by storytelling, re-energized by richly crafted designs, and feel at their most brilliant,” creative director Nathalie Colin explains.
Last but not least was the Atelier Swarovski fall/winter 2018 collection that offered jewelry, accessories and home decors. The lineup celebrates the return of the collaborations with fashion’s biggest names: Peter Pilotto and Mary Katrantzou. Meanwhile editor and style icon Anna Dello Russo and designer Tabitha Simmons make their debut with the atelier collection.
A MOMENT to Shine
The one-night event not only showcased over 123 years of heritage and craftsmanship but also celebrated the honorees of the Swarovski Brilliant 8: A Tribute to Women Who Sparkle. These women were recognized for embodying the sparkling spirit of the brand and because they shine just as bright in their own ways. Representing the Philippines were journalist Marie Lozano and fashion/ lifestyle blogger and host Nicole Andersson.
Founder and jeweler Daniel Swarovski once said, “Diamonds are for royalty. I wanted to create a diamond for every woman.” If there’s one thing that Swarovski is known for, it’s their mastery of making precision-cut crystals, and giving everyone access to be able to shine through and through.
