Drug war: 2 slain, cop chief’s brod held

Two more drug suspects were killed in an anti-drug operation in Laguna on Monday night.

The fatalities were identified as Ranier Alcantara, alias Jabar, and Jhemar Ballenas, alias Bob. One of them reportedly fired at police officers in a sting in Barangay Landayan, San Pedro.

Police said the fatalities yielded 16 sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P50,000, a hand grenade and a gun.

Also in Laguna, police are investigat­ing if the killing of a man, who has yet to be identified, in Barangay Banilan, Pakil on Monday was drug-related.

In Iligan City, Antonio Anduyan Jr., half-brother of Chief Superinten­dent Rolando Anduyan of the Manila police, was arrested in a drug bust in Purok 8, Barangay Tibanga on Saturday.

Wilkins Villanueva, Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency regional director, said six sachets of shabu valued at P70,000 were recovered from Antonio Jr., who is in President Duterte’s narco list.

Anduyan said he would not intervene in the investigat­ion of the case filed against his brother. “I will not allow anyone in my family to destroy my name and reputation,” he said.

In La Union, Indian men Kulvir Nakhwal, 21, and Harpeet Singh, 30, both residents of Barangay San Julian, Agoo, were arrested in a drug sting in Barangay Francia West, Tubao town.

Police said the suspects were under surveillan­ce for several months.

In Bulacan, two alleged motorcycle thieves were killed in alleged shootouts with police officers in Norzagaray on Monday.

The police officers were responding to reports that a motorcycle was stolen in Barangay Bigte when the suspects reportedly opened fire when cornered in Barangay Partida.
