Lady Maroons seek rebound vs winless Stags

-

University of the Philippines tries to regain traction as it takes on winless San Sebastian in the lone women’s match in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan today.

The Lady Maroons, who bowed to the pacesetting UST Tigresses after an opening day win, figure in a 4 p.m. battle with the cellar-dwelling Lady Stags on a playdate loaded with four men’s matches.

Adamson trains its sights on its fifth straight win and the solo lead against Far Eastern University (1-2) at 9 a.m. while National University looks to stay right behind as it hopes to make it 4-0 against University of the Philippines (2-1) at 1 p.m.

San Beda, meanwhile, tries to string up back-to-back wins in its 11 p.m. skirmish with listless Arellano University (0-3) with the 6 p.m. faceoff between University of Perpetual Help (1-3) and College of St. Benilde (1-2) completing the busy men’s division.

Pumped up by an opening game victory, the Lady Maroons got off to a strong start against the Tigresses last Sunday but fizzled in the second and third sets then came up short in their fightback in the fourth to slide to 1-1.

But UP is eager to pick itself up against SSC-R, which is yet to come up with a win in its first three matches.

Isa Molde spearheads the Lady Maroons who also hope to draw a better showing from Marian Buitre who was held to seven points the last time out while rookie Nicole Magsarile is expected to atone for an endgame blunder despite coming up with the second best output of 12 points against UST.
