MTRCB brings family, child summit to Cebu
The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) will bring for the first time its annual Family and Child Summit to Cebu City on Aug. 10, according to MTRCB chairman Rachel Arenas.
With the theme “Cebu and its Place in Philippine Cinema History,” the sixth summit will celebrate the 100th year of Philippine cinema and the invaluable contribution of the Cebuano film industry in molding the landscape of Filipino filmmaking.
To be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (registration starts at 8 a.m.) at the social hall of Cebu Provincial Capital, the summit will be highlighted by lectures and panel discussions led by renowned resource speakers. Among them are the Queen of Visayan Movies and MTRCB board member Gloria Sevilla, professor and film historian Nick Deocampo, and professor and film director Jose Javier Reyes.
Arenas, who will deliver the opening remarks, said influential personalities from the film and television industries will be joined at the summit by an estimated 1,000 students, academicians and media practitioners.
The participants will be treated to a free screening of the proudly Cebuano-made dark comedy film Patay Na Si Hesus, megged by Victor Villanueva and starring Cannes Best Actress winner Jaclyn Jose. The highly-acclaimed movie was an entry to the 2017 Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino.
