San Beda tries to keep fellow unbeaten Lyceum within sight as it guns for a sixth straight win against San Sebastian today even as Perpetual Help shoots for solo third spot against Mapua in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying Center in San Juan.

Also hot on a trail of a five-game run, the Lions will again bank on Robert Bolick, AC Soberano and their league-best defense when they seek another win in their 4 p.m. showdown with the struggling Stags, in solo seventh with a 3-5 card.

Bolick dished out a 20-point, 11-rebounds, six-assist effort while Soberano delivered a couple of triples in helping lift the reigning back-toback champions to an 80-76 overtime victory over rival Letran Knights last Friday.

But it’s their stifling defense that had anchored the Lions their first five victories, holding their rivals to a league-best 65.2 points a game.

“We hope Bolick and AC (Soberano) can keep playing like that and our defense continue to stay solid for us to keep on winning,” said San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez.

San Sebastian will play minus RK Ilagan for the third straight game after receiving a team suspension for disciplinary reasons.
