Drug suspect slain, 6 others nabbed
A suspected drug pusher was killed and six others were arrested in separate police operations in Metro Manila over the weekend.
In Pasig City, a drug suspect, known only as Carlo, died in a reported shootout with police during a sting in Barangay Palatiw on Saturday night, Senior Superintendent Bernabe Balba, director of the Eastern Police District, said.
Carlo died while being rushed to the hospital.
His companion managed to escape.
In Marikina, four persons were collared during an antinarcotics operation in Barangays Tumana and Barangka.
They were Gerry Ann Esmael, alias Gaga, 26; Henry Aquino, Gilbert Llamas and May Yaon.
Police said they recovered eight sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia and the marked money from the suspects.
In San Juan City, a drug surrenderee was nabbed for allegedly beating his wife.
Joseph Alquino, 40, was collared at his house along Hilltop street in Barangay Onse based on a warrant issued by Judge Cesar Sulit of the San Juan Regional Trial Court Branch 152.
Police said a complaint for physical injuries and violation of Republic Act 9262 or the Violence Against Women and Children Act was filed against Alquino by his partner, Josephine Turio, 49.
In her complaint, Turio said the suspect beat her up while he was allegedly high on drugs on several occasions.
Alquino was on the drug watchlist of the San Juan police.
He surrendered under Oplan Tokhang in 2016, but allegedly returned to drug pushing.
In Taguig, a tricycle driver was apprehended for alleged possession of 101 grams of shabu worth at least P1.6 million.
Members of the Police Community Precinct 6 arrested Ernan Aguinaldo, 26, along NP Cruz street in Barangay Ususan.
Aguinaldo is being held by police on charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.–
