Glitch hits MRT-3 anew

- Ghio Ong

Following a week without glitches, commuters of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) were inconvenienced yesterday after a northbound train suffered an electrical failure.

At least 600 passengers were unloaded at the Shaw Boulevard station after the train’s motor broke down at past 3 p.m., according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

The DOTr said the commuters were transferred to another train after a few minutes.

The MRT-3 management said the technical problem was caused by worn-out electrical sub-components such as the regulator and insulator. –
