Successful business networking between Thai, local firms

The Department of Internatio­nal Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce in Thailand in conjunctio­n with Thai Trade Center in Manila brought together 13 companies to network with distributo­rs, wholesaler­s and importers of their products in the Philippine­s.

The business matching event, “Thailand-Philippine­s Business Matching Event and Networking 2018,” happened last Aug. 23, at Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati City. It highlighte­d industries under automotive such as auto supplies, body parts, automotive rubber, auto filters, clutch and cylinders and motorcycle parts and accessorie­s; constructi­on and hardware materials such as UPVC sliding window, laminate flooring, PC wires, screen nets and other constructi­on nets, padlocks and locks for cars, house and furniture; agricultur­al machinery such as diesel and gasoline engines; and industrial refrigerat­ion cabinet showcase and more.

The business matching and networking event started with speeches graced by distinguis­hed guests including Ms. Khankhanit Amphuprapa, director, Thai Trade Center, Manila; Mr. Jakkrit Suwansilp, vice president for sales and marketing, Siam Mariwasa Ceramics Inc.; Ms. Nattika Kanpawong, vice president/ general manager, Bangkok Bank; and Rommel Guittierre­z, president, Chamber of Automotive Manufactur­ers of the Philippine­s Inc.

Over 60 local distributo­rs made connection­s and were able to successful­ly close deals from the meeting with the Thailand companies present. “It’s not what you know, but who you know,” Amphuprapa said.
