PAP-FAOPS 2018 a meeting of perinatal care experts
Founded in 1989, the Perinatal Association of the Philippines (PAP) which aimed at improving the plight of the pregnant woman, her unborn and newly born child, is a collaboration of obstetricians, pediatricians, newborn medicine specialists, midwives, nurse-midwives and nurses.
The PAP will host the 20th Congress of the Federation of Asia and Oceania Perinatal Societies (FAOPS) on Sept. 2326 at the Manila Hotel.
PAP welcomes all delegates from the 13 member countries of FAOPS and local societies. The medical meeting will be the venue of interaction for professionals involved in perinatal care for “the betterment of the health of the mother and her unborn.”
The workshops and discussions will revolve around the theme “Integration of Best Practices in Perinatal Care.”
The inaugural Dr. Natividad Puertollano Memorial Lecture and inaugural Dr. Carmelita Cuyugan Memorial Lecture will be among the highlights of the congress.
The Manila FAOPS Congress 2018 promises to be a fascinating blend of intellectual exchange and fellowship with respected leaders in this critical field of medicine. The scientific committee headed by Dr. Susan Pelea Nagtalon, PAP president and Dr. Jose Salazar, PAP past president, diligently prepared topics of interest focused on improving the delivery of quality and patient-centered perinatal care through a multidisciplinary approach.
PMA president Dr. Jose Santiago Jr. will be the keynote speaker during the opening on Sept. 23. Known for Pinoy penchant for celebrations, there will be Philippine music and dances for the social program with the fiesta of flavors highlighting local cuisine.
Inspired by their advisers Drs. Dolores Belmonte-Sy, Diosdado Mariano, and Socorro Mendoza, the 2018 PAP board of trustees and the FAOPS organizing committee take pride in putting this congress under the leadership of current FAOPS president Prof. Chien-Nan Lee.
At the end of the congress will be the inauguration of new FAOPS president Dr. Socorro Mendoza of the Kangaroo Care Program and the turnover rites for the next FAOPS Congress to be hosted by Japan.
