Villager, student drown

TUGUEGARAO CITY – A 34-year-old man died Saturday after suffering an epileptic seizure and drowned in Pinacanaua­n River in Barangay Bitabian, San Mariano, Isabela.

Police said Melencio Pagulayan was carrying firewood at around 11 a.m.

Villagers in Barangay Zone 2 retrieved Pagulayan’s corpse that was swept to the side of the river.

On the same day, a 16-year-old student drowned while swimming at 3:30 p.m. in a river at Barangay Pinipin in Sta. Cruz, Ilocos Sur.

Leinard Rabilas was dead when villagers found him. They brought his body to Ilocos Sur District Hospital in Sta. Lucia.
