LGUs take center stage in 2018 Early Years Fair

-

Champion local government units led community dialogues on early childhood care and development on the South Luzon cluster of the 2018 Early Years Fair held last Aug. 30, at the Chardonnay by Astoria, Pasig City.

The 2018 Early Years Fair is an activity launched to strengthen the partnership of the Early Childhood Care and Development Council with local government units in implementing and sustaining quality ECCD programs and services in their respective cities/municipalities.

It also serves as a platform for shared experiences and best practices on child development and early learning; and recognizes the commitment to action and cooperation from ECCD partners and stakeholders.

Additionally, the Fair also serves as a venue to promote and re-launch Kamp Bulilit as part of the continuing Early Years Fair strategy. The camp is a one-day parent and child camp designed to facilitate early learning and give children and their parents quality time and access to exciting, challenging, and engaging activities to learn together.

Another major feature of the Fair is the launch of The

ECCD Story, a book which chronicles the best practices of 12 LGUs in managing national child development centers (NCDCs).

The major speakers of the Fair are Undersecretary Lorna Dig-Dino, Department of Education; Dr. Teresita Inciong, ECCD Council vicechair and executive director; Mayor Johnielle Keith Nieto, Cainta, Rizal; Lourdes Dimaguila, GAD officer of Biñan City, Laguna; Patria Agcaoili, CSWDO of Malabon City; and Evelyn Somera, CSWDO of Masbate City, Masbate.

In all, the 2018 Early Years envisions to generate more enriched awareness, interest, commitment, and participation in ECCD services at the national and community levels. The next three dialogues will be held in Pampanga – Sept. 27; Cebu – Nov. 22; and Davao – Oct. 25.
