Lanao Sur board member, councilor held for drugs
LANAO DEL SUR – Two officials of this province were arrested in a drug raid in Iligan City on Tuesday.
Provincial board member Hussein Magandia and his son-in-law Marawi Councilor Amienquailid Dimal reportedly yielded sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P3.4 million. They are under the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
PDEA officials said the raid on the house of the suspects was based on a search warrant issued by Judge Alandrex Betoya of the North Cotabato Regional Trial Court Branch 16.
The relatives of the officials reportedly tipped off the police that the suspects were keeping shabu at their house in Iligan City.
5 suspects slain
In Cavite, Gaudencio Herrera, 59, a former barangay captain in President Duterte’s narco list, was shot dead by unidentified assailants at his store in Barangay Malagasang 2-C, Imus on Tuesday.
Herrera died while being treated at the EAC Hospital.
Chief Superintendent Edward Carranza, Calabarzon police director, ordered his men to monitor barangay captains tagged in the illegal drug trade following the incident.
An alias Ronel and Rodel Reynaldo were shot dead after they reportedly drew their guns when they sensed they had transacted with police officers who posed as buyers of shabu in Barangay Sto. Cristo, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan before dawn yesterday and in Caniag, Camiling, Tarlac, respectively.
Police said Deolito Lastrollo shot it out with undercover agents in a drug sting in front of his house in Barangay Binauan, Pili, Camarines Sur also on Tuesday.
In Albay, Joseph Briones and his unidentified companion were killed in an alleged shootout with anti-narcotics agents in Sto. Domingo town on Monday.
