Maynilad spends P430 M for pipe replacement in QC

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. is spending nearly P430 million for its pipe replacement project to improve water quality and pressure in Quezon City.

The Pangilinan-led company said it would replace pipes to address the problem of leaks and breakages in the 50-year-old pipes along D. Tuazon in Quezon City.

The replacement of old secondary and tertiary pipelines will allow Maynilad to reduce water losses in the area and recover some two million liters of water per day (MLD) lost to leaks.

The recovered water is enough to supply the water needs of about 2,000 customers.

“Through continued investments in network rehabilitation, we not only reduce water losses but also improve water pressure for our customers,” Maynilad president and CEO Ramoncito Fernandez said.

Almost 100,000 people in 11 barangays in Quezon City will benefit from the project once completed this year.

Maynilad is also coordinating with the Department of Public Works and Highways, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, and Quezon City Engineering Office and local barangay officials to further minimize inconvenience to motorists.

This year, Maynilad is implementing pipe replacement projects in various portions of Quezon City, Valenzuela, Malabon, Caloocan, Manila, Pasay, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, and Kawit and Noveleta in Cavite.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the country in terms of customer base. It serves the areas of Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas, Malabon, and certain portions of Manila, Quezon City, Makati and Cavite.

The company is owned and managed by Maynilad Water Holdings Co. Inc., a joint venture among Metro Pacific Investments Corp., DMCI Holdings and Marubeni Corp.
