BCDA positions Clark as Asia Pacific investment site

- LOUELLA DESIDERIO

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is positioning Clark as an investment destination of choice in the Asia Pacific region in the upcoming global place branding forum in the United Kingdom next month.

In a statement, BCDA said its chairman Gregorio Garcia III would present the country’s first smart and sustainable city, the New Clark City, before communications and marketing executives from different countries.

The City Nation Place 2018 Global Forum, which will be held on Nov. 7 to 8, is expected to allow participants to rethink approaches in attracting tourists, talent and investments.

For BCDA, the forum provides an opportunity to position New Clark City as a key investment destination in the region.

Covering 9,450 hectares, the New Clark City is seen as a viable solution to the country’s congestion problem.

The project will have mixed-use residential, commercial, agro-industrial, educational institutions, and other information technology developments.

The first phase development covers 60 hectares for the National Government Administrative Center where construction of back-up offices of various government agencies and a world-class sports complex is ongoing.

Aside from serving as a venue to promote the New Clark City, BCDA also sees the City Nation Place as a platform to present opportunities in the infrastructure space in the country as the government is pushing for infrastructure development under the Build Build Build (BBB) program.

Through the BBB program, the government aims to improve interconnectivity and logistics in the country by putting in place mass transport systems, roads and bridges, and smart, sustainable cities.
