Coop leaders support CDA 2018 Charter

The Philippine Star - - NEWS -

In a show of force and national unity, 400 coop leaders from all over the country flocked to the Senate session hall to express their support and witness Sen. Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri — the Senate Committee on Cooperatives chairman — officially sponsor the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Charter of 2018 as a complementary bill to the Philippine Cooperative Code of 2008.

The solon further stressed that the cooperative sector has long been waiting for this. The filing of the bill emphasized the need to strengthen and re-organize the CDA, giving it broader powers and functions in order to effectively discharge its mandate.

The move is widely seen by many as a response to the aspirations and needs of the sector in its quest for inclusive growth. Majority of the senators present also co-authored the resolution.
