Manila Wa­ter bags con­tract in Tanauan


Ay­ala-led Manila Wa­ter Co. Inc. has been awarded the con­tract to man­age the bulk wa­ter sup­ply and waste­water ser­vices in Tanauan City in Batan­gas.

In a reg­u­la­tory fil­ing, Manila Wa­ter said it re­ceived the no­tice of award from the Tanauan Wa­ter District for the im­ple­men­ta­tion of wa­ter sup­ply sys­tem and san­i­ta­tion fa­cil­i­ties which will be carried out un­der a joint ven­ture.

The project has an es­ti­mated cap­i­tal ex­pen­di­ture of more than P1.5 bil­lion over a 25-year con­tract pe­riod.

It is ex­pected to de­liver a billed vol­ume of 13.18 mil­lion liters per day.

The con­tract cov­ers the de­sign, im­prove­ment, up­grade, re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion and ex­pan­sion of wa­ter sup­ply and san­i­ta­tion fa­cil­i­ties in­clud­ing the fi­nanc­ing and con­struc­tion of fa­cil­i­ties and in­fras­truc­ture in the ser­vice area.

Manila Wa­ter and its sub­sidiary Manila Wa­ter Philip­pine Ven­tures Inc. will en­ter into an agree­ment with TWD to establish a joint ven­ture com­pany that will im­ple­ment the project.

The Ay­ala-led util­ity firm cov­ers the east zone which en­com­passes parts of Makati, Man­daluy­ong, Pasig, Pateros, San Juan, Taguig, Marik­ina, most parts of Que­zon City, por­tions of Manila, as well as sev­eral towns in Rizal.

The com­pany op­er­ates three other sub­sidiaries – La­guna AAA Wa­ter Corp., Bo­ra­cay Is­land Wa­ter and Clark Wa­ter Corp.
