Carla in the business of pampering

Aside from being busy shooting for her new project for GMA 7, Carla Abellana

(photo) is now the owner of a Posh Nails franchise. She calls it “a dream come true.” “I have always been a loyal client of Posh Nails. I was going there with my mom as our bonding time back when I was in high school, when it was just starting out in its first branch at Greenhills. I even remember seeing owner Cat Ilacad there at the counter every time I went for my pampering treatments,” she recalled.

Even during those days, she promised herself that she would own a Posh Nails someday. “Natuwa lang ako with the concept, because it was first of its kind in the country. Before, if you wanted your nails done, you did it in a beauty parlor or called a neighborhood manicurista for home service.” She was enchanted with the pink and purple décor and the themed services that could not be found anywhere else, and kept coming back even when showbiz beckoned.

When the opportunity came, Carla first became an ambassador for the homegrown brand and then took on a franchise. She first entertained the idea of becoming a franchisee two years ago, but had to wait until she found the perfect spot for her business at the Level 3 of Ayala Malls Feliz. Construction started in December 2017. Shop opened last March 14.

The business is doing well, she said. She was hands-on in her branch for the duration that she was in between projects. “I have partnerships in other businesses. I am a co-owner of Holy Smokes in Poblacion, Makati and we also have an online business, but I am not fully involved in (them). With my Posh Nails franchise, I am at the store, making sure that everything runs smoothly. Since there is no one else to delegate the work to, I am on top of everything, from marketing to hiring, to customer service,” she said.

She has regular clients, some of whom are fans who travel all the way from Makati, Laguna or Pampanga. “I am so happy with the support that the fans have given (me), even when I am not there, especially now that I am shooting my series, they still come over.”

Most of the clients are those who come because they love to experience the Posh Nails brand of pampering. “I made sure that we hired technicians who can provide the best customer service, especially since the market in my location in an Ayala mall is more upscale. We trained our staff to be polite and proactive and to provide the clients with really good service.”
