NGCP to build health center in Tuy, Batangas

-

In its commitment to uplift the lives of its partner host communities, grid operator National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) signed a memorandum of agreement with the municipality of Tuy, Batangas for the construction of a health center in one of the barangays which will host NGCP’s facilities.

Under the MOA, a health center will be built in Barangay Bolbok, complete with birthing facility provisions, basic medical equipment, and instruments needed for the center’s day-to-day operations.

The agreement was signed by NGCP president and CEO Anthony Almeda, Tuy Mayor Jose Jecerell Cerrado and Bolbok barangay captain Juanito del Mundo.

“Building a health center in Barangay Bolbok is our way of giving back. Accessible quality health services are needed by our people, but are insufficient especially in far-flung towns and barangays. With the support of the local government of Tuy to ensure the operation and maintenance of the health center, NGCP knows that this project will greatly benefit the people of Barangay Bolbok and its vicinity,” NGCP said.

The municipality of Tuy will host NGCP’s 230/500kV substation and the Tuy-Dasmariñas 500kV transmission line projects which will improve the transmission network in the Southern Luzon area.

“The Tuy-Damariñas transmission line project will enable the more efficient and reliable flow of power in Southern Luzon. With the substation enabling the connection of new generating capacities, additional available power for the grid will be able to reach where it is needed through the reinforcement of this new 500kV line. This will be much needed in the coming years as the demand for power has been growing steadily with the country’s high dependence on electricity and technology,” NGCP said.

NGCP is a Filipino-led, privately owned company in charge of operating, maintaining, and developing the country’s power grid, led by majority shareholders Henry Sy Jr. and Robert Coyiuto Jr.
