A BAIC reveal at the 2018 PIMS
It was four years ago when Bayan automotive Industries Corporation — a subsidiary of Universal Motors Corporation (UMC) — launched the BaIC brand (short for Beijing automotive Industry Holdings, Co.) as a new player in the automotive space, also during the fifth edition of the bi-annual Philippine International Motor show (PIMs). this year, it maintains its strong presence in the local automotive industry with its own expansive booth at the seventh edition of PIMs, which starts today and runs until sunday at the world trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City.
BAIC will be presenting at PIMS its very latest models, which include the aggressive-looking BJ20 SUV; the superaffordable M50S MPV; and its newest product yet, the M60 full-sized MPV with automatic transmission.
Alongside these newest additions to the local BAIC roster, the company will also be showcasing its wonderfully priced MZ45 Transporter — which sports 11 seats and aircon vents for all three rows. Also upfront will be its newly developed Kalayaan Jeepney — a 12-seater that fulfills all the requirements of the country’s Jeepney Modernization Program. This Kalayaan Jeepney also boasts the largest seating capacity within the Class 1 vehicle category.
The strength in BAIC products is its low cost of ownership, amid easy serviceability and having Euro 4 (and now, even Euro 5!) -compliant engines.
Visit their booth to feel what it’s like to sit in the driver’s seat of their BJ20 SUV, which looks like a small tank and is priced starting at a tempting P1,148,000. You may also want to take a look at their upgraded version of the popular M20 — now called the M50S (the S stands for Sport). This MPV is now Euro-5 compliant and its price tag starts at a modest selling price of P638,000.
Furthermore, surprise yourself when you get to inspect their latest prize possession — the M60 full-size MPV, gifted with a turbocharged Euro-5 engine. At below P1 million — its price starts at only P998,000 — it is indeed a very persuasive proposition.
