Rajah Travel pushes data-driven tourism
A travel agency is moving for a more informative tourism sector as it launches an online portal that is expected to provide relevant and current data and information on the country’s tourism industry.
Rajah Travel Corp. earlier launched the first phase of its of its Tourism Knowledge Center, which it dubs as a “game changer” for the tourism sector.
The center is expected to bring together tourism industry stakeholders, local government units (LGU), and the academe as they collectively provide new insights, trends, and analysis on Philippine tourism.
Rajah president Aileen Clemente said Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) was one of the first to join the project, with the local govern- ment units of Manila, Palawan, and Bohol expected to follow.
“Rajah will be managing the Tourism Knowledge Center while the LGUs and the academes will be providing the research works along with tourism data, information, and events within their locations,” Clemente said.
She said the Tourism Knowledge Center would also be a media center where tourism news will be posted. It will also have a forum and webinar to be handled by leading tourism executives from the country and abroad.
Clemente said there are a lot of tourism data available that they can use to project future growth areas and detailed needs even on a localized level.
As LPU became the first partner for the Tourism Knowledge Center, Clemente lauded the educational institution for its forward thinking approach to tourism.
“LPU is a progressive school that we are proud to have as a partner. We believe they can assist in bridging the gap between colleges and universities and the industry needs,” Clemente said adding that after its Manila campus she expects its Batangas, Laguna and Cavite campus to also come online.
LPU president Roberto Laurel said they are excited to partner with Rajah Travel Corp. for the project.
“With our involvement in the Tourism Knowledge Center, we expect our university to blaze new fields as we showcase our center of excellence stature. We are one of the leading educational institutions in terms of our tourism and hospitality management courses,” Laurel said.
