Snack on, snack off

Five dishes from the newly opened Borough in BGC that’ll take you from brunch to milk and cookies.

- By Tin Sartorio

When we think of Borough, we think of their grilled cheese and tomato soup. And Mom’s Milk and Cookies. I mean, that’s as real as comfort food gets, right?

But as brothers Patrick and Mikko Santos open a new branch at the heart of BGC, their NY restaurant concept adapts to the experiences and happenings on this side of town. That means longer hours, cozier interiors and, yup, an extended menu. Not that there’s anything wrong with their classic offerings, but an upgrade of their coffee selection (now in partnership with Yardstick Coffee!) as well as their pastries and main course offerings is always welcome.

Here are five dishes from the newly opened Borough in BGC that’ll take you from brunch to milk and cookies. Brunch: Butterscotch Chicken and Waffles and Manhattan Special

Kick things off with a hearty serving of a fave combo, but with a twist. Borough’s gingerbrined fried chicken is served with pumpkin waffles, a sweet-and-sour butterscotch gravy, whipped butter and spiced pumpkin seeds on top. Add an order of Manhattan Special — a shot of espresso with soda — and you’re set for the long week ahead. Snack: Snaffaluffanutter Pie End of day is just a couple hours away. You deserve a Snaffalufanutter pie (inspired by the American fluffernutter sandwich and Mr. Snuffleupagus of Sesame Street fame). Think: smooth Nutella and peanut butter filling with a crunchy cookie crust, marshmallow fluff and popcorn topping. You’ll want another slice of this marshmallow and peanut butter realness for takeout. Dinner: Asian Pear Shredded Chicken Salad and Shiitake Goat Cheese Ravioli

The salad is already a feast on its own thanks to the toppings overload and peanut vinaigrette. But you know what’s also good? Shiitake ravioli. Preferably cooked in brown sage butter. With goat cheese and walnuts. Yes, you’re welcome. Special treat: Mexican Chocolate Pudding Pie

It tastes exactly what you think it would taste like: dark and silky chocolate with a li’l kick of spice. This pie isn’t for everyone, sure. But it looks so damn gorgeous that you’ll at least want to have a bite. You be the judge. All day: Mom’s Milk and Cookies You deserve it. Always. * * *

Borough is located at Bonifacio High Street Central, Bonifacio Global City. It is open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. (Mondays), 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. (Tuesdays to Saturdays) and 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. (Sundays).

?? ?? Dunk and go: An upgrade of Borough's coffee selection, pastries and main course offerings is always welcome.
