A police officer was accused of raping a rookie policewoman undergoing training in Puerto Princesa, Palawan on Monday.

Police Officer 3 Jernie Ramirez, 29, maritime trooper course assistant instructor, was charged with rape before the provincial prosecutor ’s office on Tuesday.

The victim is a 23-yearold with the rank of Police Officer 1.

The alleged rape reportedly occurred between 2:30 a.m. to 3 a.m. at the Joint Maritime Law Enforcement Training Center in Barangay Sta. Lourdes.

The victim claimed Ramirez asked her if she could accompany him then pushed her into a comfort room and kissed her on the lips.

The policewoman alleged that Ramirez brought her to the second floor of an old building, where she was raped.

Ramirez was arrested at around 6:15 p.m. also on Monday after she reported her ordeal to training officials.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said Ramirez would be held accountable for his actions.

“We will never tolerate these kinds of illegal acts of our people,” Albayalde told a news conference yesterday.

He assured the public that the incident was an isolated case and “does not reflect the level of discipline in the PNP.”
